Great Blue Herons give the feeling, more than most other birds, of being living relics of an ancient past. Watch them as they stand still for hours on end, moving only occasionally to snatch up a fish or insect or just about anything else that crosses their path.
Their near ubiquity, large size, and stillness gives me plenty of opportunities to capture them in new ways. It lets me focus on the composition and mood more than on simply getting a shot in focus.
