Skagit County in Northern Washington state is a very popular location for birders and bird photographers, especially during the winter when the raptors are there in large numbers. The appeal of photographing Short-eared Owls is already very strong and combined the large numbers of people looking for outdoor hobbies during the pandemic, it’s resulted in what I’d consider to be an unhealthy ratio of people to owls. So… until that settles down some, I’ve been backing away from the owls and and focusing more on the natural and pastoral scenery in Skagit.
